We're meeting with Anjum Rahmatulla, homeopath to find out a little more about how homeopathy can help.

Aconite Napellus - Homeopathic Remedy

Winter has arrived. Are you fully prepared to look after your health in the colder months? Not sure where to start? Here is an example of a remedy sourced from a plant also known as Wolf’s Bane or Monkshood.

Aconite Napellus is a very useful homeopathic remedy when you have been exposed to a very cold wind or been somewhere very draughty. Aconite can help in the first 24 to 36 hours of getting ill, when your symptoms come on QUICKLY, for example, fever, sore throat, earache, croup or even toothache. You might wake up at night before midnight feeling very anxious and/or distressed. The mental state of a person often gives important clues as to which remedy to use, as homeopathy takes the whole person into account when a prescription is needed. People needing Aconite will wake before midnight feeling anxious and distressed.

Croup

Croup is a childhood condition when the vocal cords are inflamed and dryness in the air causes a young child to have a dry, barking cough. Aconite can be really helpful for a child waking with croup, particularly when it is before midnight. The timing is important because there are other remedies to consider if the coughing starts well after midnight. Children are pretty distressed and scared when they hear a croupy cough, and Aconite can help with the fear as well as a cough.

If you are considering taking Aconite, it is best to start with a 30c potency or less, and take one pill, followed by another after an hour. Take a maximum of 3 pills. With children, it is best to crush the wee pills between 2 spoons, and then give them the crushed pills to suck. Always suck the tablets in a clean mouth. If it does not help, you might need something else or a change in potency. You can always give me a call if you need help.
