Our Backs Hurt – why doesn’t hers?

If you have had the privilege of traveling in village India or Africa, you may have witnessed for yourself the ease and grace with which people in these non industrialised cultures go about their daily tasks.  Levels of reported chronic back pain in parts of Africa are as low as 5% compared to the 85%  reported in the industrialised world.  Statues and images from previous centuries also depict Primal Posture.  You also see it in young children around the world as they take their first steps. Sadly this is lost as we grow up, surrounded by poor posture, often learning to slump even in our first days at school.

This has had such a devastating effect that we now expect to get back and other forms of pain from an increasingly young age. Even teenagers now regularly suffer back pain. But this is not inevitable, we can relearn, reclaim our Primal Posture. Many thousands have been guided away from back, hip, neck and knee pain by the Gokhale Method. The focus is not on special exercises, or elaborate devices but on how to sit, lie, stand, bend and walk. This turns the very activities that we might find challenging and painful into a healing therapeutic way of living.

The Gokhale Method Foundations course consists of 6 x 1.5 hour lessons, max group size 8, teaching how to sit, stand, lay down, bend and walk our way back to a healthy back, hips knees, shoulders, neck and feet. The “8 Steps to a Pain Free Back” book is the course text, we will cover each of the 8 chapters plus some of the exercises from the appendix.
